The Crib is done!

Well it's finally done, tell me what you think. It's made from hickory and maple and has adjustable height.

Also while I'm reveling in my woodworking here is the bed I made last summer for Kate and I. It's made from walnut and maple with Oregen myrtle we picked up on our honeymoon.
And here is a coffee table I made a few years back. Its Brazilain cherry, walnut, cherry, and maple.

Daylin's favorite Songs

I'm not the best singer in the world but my voice seems to calm her during those late night feedings. I'm also not one of those people that easily recalls every song I've ever heard (especially not at 3 in the morning) so I often default to the same 5 songs or so. One of them is the Jurassic Park theme song, and the other is Billy Joel's Lullaby. She loves it... or maybe hates it because it always puts her to sleep... eventually. Even at that time of the morning and is screaming because I can't feed her fast enough, I can't help but think she is the most beautiful thing in the world. She is a pretty good baby though, nights have been pretty good lately. She doesn't like going to bed before midnight but then she at least gives us 3- 6 hours before waking up again. It's fun to watch her sleep because she is quite the drama queen. She also has the glaring thing down pat. I think she gets it from me. Notice the sexy milk mustache she has going on. She also loves car rides and walks... they put her right to sleep... or at least calm her down.

We're playing the game too!

So my freind Brett posted about the hottest new gameshow these days. So I thought we should post on our "success" in the same game show. Our personal rate of return from 12/31/07 to 9/30/08 is a whooping -28.11%. Yeah Baby, keep on tanking economy! The upside is that when we do decide to buy a house in the next few years, prices should be low!

More Cute Baby Pics

Yeah, dad is a sucker for the little girl... I love her! We just got home with the little one. She is still sleeping to beat the band, 5-7 hours at a time folks. Yeah, I know all you other new parents are in shock! She is amazing at this sleeping thing, now if she could just figure out how the nutrient delivery system works, she would be set. But she is getting better at it every time! Now for some more pics.

A few pictures of her favorite hobby thus far :)

Mom and Dad's first attempt at cutting her nails (they were long after 42 weeks inside mommy)
We nicked her skin on both fingers, I think Kate has never felt worse in her life. Funny thing? She didn't even wake up, she gave two little "Ouch" cries then returned to her favorite hobby. Don't believe us? Check out the second picture!

Strapped in and ready to be on her way home. We're still not sure what gang signs she was trying to show us?

She's Here Safe and Sound!

Hey all,

Just a quick update. Daylin Tammela Olsen arrived at 5:15pm by c-section. She weighs 9 pounds 15 ounces and is doing fantastic. Mom is doing great too. She went in to get induced at 4pm on Tuesday and labored all through the night and day without sufficient progress. The baby's head is huge (38.5 cm), poor girl she gets that from her dad. Without being overly sappy, I can only use words like honor, respect, proud, and amazed to describe my feelings for Kate right now, she worked soooo hard! But I will let Kate tell her own story. She is recouping well. Both are now sleeping. Hopefully baby will keep up the stellar sleeping habits. I feel about Daylin like I did when I first fell in love with Kate. I can't wait to see her again and she fills up my thoughts in the meantime. Life never felt so good. Here is a bit of fun stuff to tide you over till you can see her in person.

YEAH for a good cry! I have some other videos to post where she is a bit happier, but that can wait for another day.

It's 12:45am and I feel like a moron

So I screwed up and didn't realize I needed to pick up one of our boys tonight until I got a call 3 hours after I should have left to get him asking me why he had not been picked up yet from where he was staying in SLC. 8pm planned pick up time turned into 11pm I-can't-tell-you-why-I-didn't-realize pick up time. I am an Idiot! The even better news is that we are still not parents. ARGH!!!! I'm so ready to be a dad, I'm so ready to see what an awesome mother my beautiful wife is going to be. I can't wait to have a family of my own. It's late, I'm cranky cause I am a fool and I feel bad for my poor wonderful wife who is now 11 days overdue and is trying ever so hard to be patient and give our child the best possible start in life. But please for our sanity withhold any ideas from how to get labor going, we've heard them all and they all suck for us, yes even the one that worked for you, or your sister. I'm sorry, I'm cranky. I love you all and I want to be your friend, but I'm cranky tonight.

Good Night
